Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall support and implementation of Yahoos Network infrastructure
Develops customized network solutions and systems for varied Yahoo products to include capacity planning and modelling, network performance analysis, network security and network configurations leveraging varied network technologies such as routing, switching, load balancing, metro networks, dark fiber networks, transport backbone network, vpn and encryption technologies, voice over ip
Work with internal and external customers to gather requirements, provide guidance and network security design support
Maintain/build/deploy network security policies (otherwise known as access-lists, or ACLs) across multiple networking platforms (Juniper/Cisco/Juniper SRX/Palo Alto Networks/etc,)
As part of a 24/7 oncall rotation:
Engineers are expected to respond/triage the alerts and take necessary actions to stop or divert the attack and protect Yahoo assets (DDOS Monitoring [IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP])
Respond to escalations, tickets, and alerts from NOC and Helpdesk issued to network security in a timely manner
Provide incident resolution information and work with other teams to complete impact analysis where appropriate
Independently lead and manage high visibility projects end-to-end with aggressive deadlines
Mentor and lead with confidence and consistency
Qualifications:
Firewall technologies and VPNs (Remote Access VPNs, Site to Site VPNs, IPSEC VPN’s)
Experience with a variety of devices types in Juniper/Cisco/Palo Alto Networks firewall,router & switches is required
Strong understanding of Network DDoS and other types of network integrity attacks and resolution techniques
Strong understanding of network technologies/protocols
(VRRP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, IPSEC, etc,)
Working with centralized authentication systems (TACACS, Radius)
Network security fundamentals (Transitive trust, Security policies, and encryption)
Knowledge of network programming //automation utilizing Perl, Python, GO, etc, Continuous integration // continuous development is a plus
Excellent documentation, communication, and problem resolution skills
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science preferred
YoE: Network/Network Security/DevOps: 5-7 years
Good to have:
Apply probabilistic, machine learning and data mining techniques to engineer production software to improve infrastructure scalability, efficiency as well as end user experience
Working experience with at least one Public Cloud platforms
